Mary Ann Couric
General Manager/Senior Instructor

Mary Ann has been riding since a child. She hails from Rhode Island, where she rode and taught show jumping, hunt seat equitation, hunt seat over fences, pleasure horse, and Dressage. Mary Ann started and coached for 4 years a children’s show team that campaigned in Rhode Island. She is a winner of 38 combined State and New England Championships and 14 Reserve Championships. She has also instructed students in equine training and equine showmanship. In the Philippines, she provided formal training in Dressage and hunt seat over fences before coming to Reddemeade in 1992. Since coming to Reddemeade, Mary Ann has campaigned several EquiShare horses at First and Third Level. She coordinates the Junior/Young Riders Dressage Teams and has brought many a student up the ranks through 4th Level. During her time at Reddemeade she has Trained with: Walter Zettl, Linda Zang and Ulf Wiltfang.

Jessica Schaberg
Senior Instructor/Outreach Coordinator
USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist; USEA Certified Instructor Level 1-T

Jessica is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Findlay, with degrees in Equestrian Studies, Equine Business Management, and Small Business/Entrepreneurship. She has also been a working student for Olympic eventer Phyllis Dawson. She has evented through Training, including a Classic 3-day Event with her mare, Seattles Rugged Star, and is currently competing Calm in the Storm and Constant Supervision at Novice & Training levels. She also is currently competing Delta Tango, her Thoroughbred gelding, at PSG dressage.

Michala Nathlar
Instructor/Camp Director/Stable Manager

Michala started riding at Reddemeade summer of 2006 and a few years later she took over the working student program and feed program.  In 2012 she began teaching beginner through advanced lessons as well as coaching the Eventing and Dressage teams and eventually the Hunter Jumper and JEL teams as well. She currently competes her horse, Colby, at Training Level eventing and 3rd level dressage as well working on bringing along her young OTTB.

Laurie Nesbitt
Instructor/Working Student & Office Coordinator
USDF Bronze Medalist, Certified Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor

Laurie began her riding career at Reddemeade in 2004 at the age of 8. In May of 2018 she graduated from the University of Maryland in with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She currently working and teaching full time at Reddemeade. Laurie manages the Working Student Program and coordinates special events including birthday parties and scouting troops. She currently competes her horse Versace at Fourth Level and recently earned her USDF Bronze Medal!

Nancy Schechtman
Instructor

Nancy has been riding since 1989 and teaching horseback riding at Reddemeade since 1999. She has experience in Hunters, Dressage and Eventing. In addition to teaching and competing, she also enjoys fox chasing with some of the local hunt clubs and riding sidesaddle. She has even hunted and evented aside! She continues to compete her off the track Thoroughbred gelding, Manzotti Law (Vanya) as well as working with her new horse, Denny.

Kitty Martin

Kitty has been with Reddemeade since 2000. Having tried a bit of everything, she settled into dressage and hunt seat equitation. She is one of the coaches of the Hunter Jumper Team. Having competed hunters throughout high school and college, she now competes her pony, Dixon (a former Reddemeade school horse) in recognized dressage. She is currently in college and majoring in Psychology.

Amelia McMahon
Instructor

Amelia has been riding since the age of 8. In high school, she found Columbia Riding Center and began taking jumping lessons. In 2006, she started working at Meadowbrook Stables as an assistant instructor, and then moved up to instructor and assistant barn manager in 2008. By 2009, she became the Director of the mini camp program there. In 2016, she decided she wanted to find a new barn to further her education and experiences with riding, so she joined Reddemeade family.

Alex Busse
Instructor

Alex has been riding for 10 years and came to Reddemeade in 2015. She began her riding eduction in the Hunter discipline, then began Eventing with Reddemeade’s competition team in 2017. She currently competes her horse Phoenix in Eventing and Dressage. Her goal is to compete in the AEC’s (American Eventing Championships)!

Liz Osterman
Instructor

Liz has been riding off and on for as long as she can remember.  She found Reddemeade after moving to Ashton in 1998 and has been riding here, first in the school program and then in the EquiShare program.  She started riding Mary Ann Couric’s horse, Yorktown, in the summer of 2017, and jumped at the opportunity to lease him soon after that.  Under Mary Ann’s tutelage, Liz competes Yorktown in first level dressage.

Emily Maus
Instructor

Emily has been riding and competing English, western, dressage, and everything in between for over 25 years.  She earned multiple state and national titles from the Appaloosa Horse Club and Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada as a youth and amateur rider.  Emily also won Intercollegiate Dressage Association regional and national championships riding for Mount Holyoke College.  She returned to riding and teaching after taking a career break, and is working to improve her dressage and keeping fit for international trail riding adventures.
