Riding Instructor Mardi Byerly

Mardi has been riding since 1997 after having been a serious student of ballet since the age of 6. Her first riding instructor described dressage as ballet on horseback and instantly Mardi fell in love with dressage and horses. She started her training while an undergraduate and graduate student at Purdue University with a certified German riding instructor, Elke Herrman, and shortly thereafter began training with Walter Zettl. Mardi moved to Maryland to complete a PhD in Neuroscience and continued dressage training with Jane Seigler, Mary Ann Sabin, Walter Zettl and Ulf Wiltfang and is a graduate of Reddemeade’s instructor training school. Mardi spends much of her time in lab as a Neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and continues her dressage training with the goal of competing at the FEI level.
