Jane Seigler at Reitschule

A United States Dressage Federation Silver Medalist, Jane has been riding since she was 13 and teaching since 1982. She started out in hunters and switched to eventing in the early 1980s. Jane evented successfully at Novice and Training on her Thoroughbred mare, Summer Wishes, including winning Seneca Valley Fall Horse Trials in 1986. A lawyer by trade Jane now devotes full time to Reddemeade. She presently trains and competes in Dressage on her Hannoverian gelding, Wahiro, (Wolkenstein-Bolero) and her Grand Prix Russian Warmblood, Karakter "Corey". Jane assisted Walter Zettl with pre-publication editing of his book, Dressage in Harmony. Jane served for nine years on the Board of Directors of the Potomac Valley Dressage Association. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Maryland Horse Council, the Maryland Horse Industry Board's Horse Forum Planning Subcommittee and Montgomery County's Agricultural Advisory Committee. Jane has trained with Walter Zettl, Linda Zang, Ulf Wiltfang, Bent Jensen and Lisa Wilcox.
Paul has been riding for over 25 years. He received his early Dressage training as a student of Linda Zang. He has competed at the AHSA levels on several thoroughbreds, and at Prix St. Georges / Intermediaire with his Hannoverian gelding, Lowenmut (Louie). He is currently working with his Sachsen Anhaltiner, Del Piero (Drakdream-Rubenstein). Paul helped Walter Zettl with the writing of his book, Dressage in Harmony, published by Half Halt press, as well as illustrating both the english and German edition, published by the Verlag FN, in Warendorf, Germany. Although most of his time is spent as Associate Dean for Research and Computing at the College of Science of George Mason University, he teaches advanced dressage at Reddemeade. Paul has trained with Walter Zettl, Linda Zang, Ulf Wiltfang, Bent Jensen and Lisa Wilcox.
MARY ANN SABIN - Stable Manager; Jr/YR COACH & CHEF D'EQUIPPE
Mary Ann has been riding since a child. She hails from Rhode Island, where she rode and taught show jumping, hunt seat equitation, hunt seat over fences, pleasure horse, and Dressage. Mary Ann started and coached for 7 years a children's show team that campaigned in Rhode Island. She is a winner of 38 combined State and New England Championships and 14 Reserve Championships. She has also instructed students in equine training and equine showmanship. In the Philippines, she provided formal training in Dressage and hunt seat over fences before coming to Reddemeade in 1992. Since coming to Reddemeade, Mary Ann has campaigned several EquiShare horses at First and Second Level and is currently competing Flim Flam at Second Level. She has trained with Linda Zang, Ulf Wiltfang and Walter Zettl.
Liz Doane began her riding career at Reddemeade at the age of six. She has a strong background competing in Hunter/Jumper shows and has recently begun Eventing. Under the tutelage of Steve Young, she has trained and competesd on Nancy Schechtman's thoroughbred gelding, Manzotti Law. An accomplished pianist as well, Liz has been teaching piano since the age of 14. Now, having completed Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program, she is teaching her true passion, horseback riding. Liz is currently and undergraduate college student, and teaches whenever she is home on break from Boston.
Katrina grew up in Bergen by the Norwegian fjords where at the age of 8 she started training trotters. At the age of 14, she started her teaching career by taking groups on challenging mountain rides at a local Bergen riding facility. At the same facility, she taught summer camps for several years. At 16, Katrina acquired her own Thoroughbred jumper, Miss Scarlett. Two years later she took on the position as Daily Manager at Hjortland Ridesenter, a riding school in Bergen. She formally trained in the UK for ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) instructor certificate at a riding facility near London. There she trained with Julian Marczak (ABRS Chairman and co-author of the official ABRS manual) and Karen Bush. In 2004, she moved to America and started riding at Reddemeade in 2005. She graduated Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program in the spring of 2006, and is CHA Level 2 certified for English and Jumping.
Dan began riding at Reddemeade in 1999. He has competed in Dressage through Second Level, including participation in several championship teams at the USDF Regional Jr/YR Team Chapmionships at Training and First Level, and has also competed in Eventing through Novice. Dan continues to train into Second and Third Level Dressage and Training Level Eventing under the guidance of Mary Ann Sabin. He is a graduate of Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program, and is currently pursuing his undergraduate college degree.
JEAN FREUND - WORKING STUDENT COORDINATOR
Jean began riding at the age of 8 in Potomac. In her other life, she works full time for a company owned by her family. She is a graduate of Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program, and coordinates Reddemeade's extensive Working Student and Junior Working Student Program.
Jessica began riding at Reddemeade in 2001 at the age of 11. Along with becoming a skilled rider, she also became a working student, feeder and groom. She has been a student of Melissa Smith since 2002. Jessica graduated from Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program in the spring of 2006. After graduating from high school in June 2007, she will enter the University of Maryland in the spring of 2008, studying Equine Science so she can one day become an Equine Veterinarian.
Yoko has been riding since she was seven years old. She began riding in the U.S. but her riding career continued around the world. She has trained in both dressage and jumping in Kobe, Japan and Sidney, Australia . Since returning to the U.S. in 2000 she has ridden at Reddemeade and evented Sister Disco, Equishare Roxy and Sheltered Spirit up to the Novice Level. Currently she is training her own horse, Gold Sparkle, a Hannoverian gelding, in Dressage. She is a graduate of Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program.
Michelle Ladas began riding at Reddemeade in September 2001. Shortly thereafter she began to work at the barn, first as a working student, then feeder and office worker, and as an instructor after graduating from Reddemeade's Instructor school. Michelle also founded an Equestrian Team at her high school, St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate college degree.
Emily began taking lessons at the age of 12 at Wheaton Regional riding center. She came to Reddemeade in 2004 as a groom and has been training with Melissa Smith ever since. Emily graduated from the University of Maryland in 2006 with a degree in Animal Science. While attending the university she was a member and assistant trainer of the UMD equestrian club. She also graduated from Reddemeade's instructor program in 2006. She is currently training her chesnut Arabian, Dawn, and is pursuing a new career as a mounted Park Police officer in Montgomery County.
Katherine completed a graduate degree in scientific illustration at U.C. Santa Cruz in 2003, where she was the Intercollegiate Dressage Association team's head coach. Katherine events her horse, Rockfish Willy, at Training level and has experience in dressage, hunters, jumpers, polo, vaulting, jousting, swimming horses and games. She is CHA certified in Level 4 in English and Level 2 in Western and is currently working toward her USEA certification.
JESSICA SCHABERG - CAMP DIRECTOR
Jessica is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Findlay, with degrees in Equestrian Studies, Equine Business Management, and Small Business/Entrepreneurship. She has also been a working student for Olympic eventer Phyllis Dawson. Currently, she works with her Anglo-Arab mare, Seattle's Rugged Star, whom she purchased as a 15 month old foal. Nine years later, Jessica is eventing Star at the Training and Preliminary levels.
Nancy has been riding since 1989 and teaching riding since 1999. She is a graduate of Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program, and has competed in Hunters, Dressage and Combined Training. Currently, she is focusing on competing her two horses. Freedom, a Percheron/TB cross mare, who has competed through 2nd Level Dressage, is enjoying a second career in Eventing. Nancy is also Eventing Manzotti Law (Vanya), her Thoroughbred gelding at the Novice and Training levels.
Kelsey Siegel began riding at Reddemeade at the age of 5. She was a working student for several years and spent many summers as a camper at Reddemeade's summer camp. Kelsey and her Thoroughbred gelding, Gold, participated in Seneca Valley Pony Club for 2 years before resuming riding at Reddemeade in 2004. Kelsey and Gold currently train and compete in dressage and eventing, and are part of Reddemeade's Young Rider team. Kelsey is a graduate of the Reddemeade Instructor Training Program.
ALICE SLATER
A graduate of Reddemeade's Instructor Training Program, Alice has been riding at the barn since 1998. During the day, she is a special education teacher with a Masters degree in teaching adolescents with emotional disturbance.
Melissa started riding at age 7 and has competed in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing competitions and Gymkhanas. She taught at Donneybrook Stables in South Africa and attended the equestrian studies program at Praetoria Technikon. In 1998 she moved to America and attended the equestrian studies program at Averett University, where she was on the Dressage, Hunter and Eventing teams. She is a certified equine massage therapist.
CHRISTINE WITTE
Christine began riding in the Netherlands at age of 12, and continued riding in Northern Germany at a number of barns until end of high school. In Germany, she competed in dressage at level "A" (somewhat comparable to US level "training"). After taking a break from horseback riding for about 15 years, she returned to riding in 2000 with a British instructor in Malawi. Christine began riding at Reddemeade in 2004, and became an instructor at Reddemeade in 2005.
Steve has been riding for 25 years and teaching for 12 and is a certified CHA Clinic Instructor. He came to Reddemeade in 1996 from New York where he taught lessons, clinics and summer camp at Houghton College. Steve has competed in hunters/jumpers, eventing and Dressage. He was High-point jumper in 1993 for the Expressway show circuit. Steve has also trained and shown several horses to Second Level Dressage.
